Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation

Lorentz Bruun Construction was selected to build the 20,000 sf Oregon Heritage Rail Foundation (OHRF) Locomotive Maintenance and Museum. This new permanent home for Portland’s three historic steam locomotives houses the maintenance/restoration facility and future rail education and interpretive center and is located in the emerging cultural district near the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI).  Our team transformed a former industrial site into a vibrant, living education and public space that preserves and celebrates rail transportation and the cultural heritage of Portland and Oregon as a whole.  The pre-fabricated metal building includes storage and maintenance space for three historic steam locomotives and space for machinery, offices a conference room and views area for visitors to watch activities on the shop floor. The “barn-style” door are reclaimed from the former building.
